The Assassin and the Pirate Lord (Throne of Glass, #0.1) - Sarah J. Maas Disappointed with this novella. The writing was engaging, but the plot wasn't compelling. It didn't make sense to me that a badass queen of assassins would be willing to throw everything away to save a ship full of slaves. Celaena can assassinate targets with ruthless efficiency, and defend herself against the fiercest of opponents. There just wasn't enough character development to make her overwhelming need to rescue the slaves convincing. I hope The Assassin and the Desert is more to my expectations.
